Experiencias y resultados de las soluciones basadas en la naturaleza para la adaptación climática urbana

La creciente exposición de las ciudades latinoamericanas a inundaciones, calor extremo y degradación ambiental exige alternativas de adaptación capaces de generar beneficios múltiples. El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar las experiencias y los resultados de las soluciones basadas en la naturaleza aplicadas a la adaptación climática urbana en Ecuador y Latinoamérica. Se desarrolló una investigación cualitativa, documental, no experimental, transversal y descriptiva, mediante la revisión de artículos científicos, planes urbanos, evaluaciones técnicas y documentos institucionales publicados entre 2020 y 2025. Los hallazgos mostraron un predominio de intervenciones orientadas al manejo hídrico, la restauración ecológica y la infraestructura verde, con resultados favorables en reducción de escorrentía, regulación térmica, calidad ambiental, movilidad y salud. Sin embargo, la valoración económica, el seguimiento institucional y la participación comunitaria presentaron menor desarrollo y comparabilidad. La evidencia sugiere que la efectividad dependió de la escala, el mantenimiento, el financiamiento, la coordinación interinstitucional y la continuidad administrativa, por lo que los resultados no pueden generalizarse de manera causal. Se concluye que estas soluciones constituyen una alternativa pertinente para la adaptación urbana, siempre que se integren en la planificación territorial mediante indicadores, presupuestos y mecanismos de gobernanza sostenibles.
