Abstract

The post-pandemic transformation of education revealed that access to technology alone did not guarantee effective pedagogical integration, which perpetuated gaps in the digital competencies of secondary school teachers. The study aimed to analyze the level of these competencies and their relationship to personal, professional, technological, and institutional factors. A qualitative, documentary, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive study was conducted through thematic analysis of scientific literature, competency frameworks, and institutional reports published primarily between 2020 and 2025. The results showed predominantly intermediate and lower-intermediate levels; professional development scored 3.28 out of 5, while educational innovation scored 1.91. The availability of devices showed a moderate positive association with digital competence, while age did not show a significant relationship. The findings indicated that professional development progressed more than pedagogical transformation and that territorial, disciplinary, and access differences influenced the educational application of technologies. It was concluded that strengthening these competencies requires coordinating continuing education, infrastructure, institutional support, and contextualized pedagogical innovation.
